Annabelle's Tea Room

Donna Muilenburg giving cooking lesson at the 29th University of Okoboji Winter GamesDuring the 29th Annual University of Okoboji Winter Games (January 23-25, 2009), Annabelle's Tea Room hosted a cooking demonstration and tasting, complete with a cookbook signing, as one of three new events added to the Winter Games of 2009.

Innkeeper Donna Muilenburg gave a cooking demonstration and tasting -- it began promptly at 10 am on Saturday, January 24, 2009, and Muilenburg featured recipes from the new cookbook, just released from the Iowa Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers Association, Discover Iowa: Cooking with Wine, Meats, and other Iowa Products.  The event has flourished and has been added as a favorite of those attending the University of Okoboji Winter Games.

Author Amelia Painter signs her books at Annual eventAuthor Amelia Painter was on hand to sign her books and answer questions about her new cookbook "Discover Iowa: Cooking with Iowa Wines, Meats and Other Iowa Products" in 2009, since that time, other cooking experts and authors have participated in the fun event.

In 2011, during the Winter Games, Donna Muilenburg demonstrated "Grandma Rossiter's Fudge Recipe" with candy maker and niece Linda DeCarlo. The event was so successful, it became necessary to prepare for an even larger audience for the 2012 University of Okoboji Winter Games. Pictured to the right is Donna sitting to demonstrate the ease of making a quick salad to go with the giant-sized, crowd-pleasing sandwich prepared,  while daughters Ann and Lisa discuss how many samples will need to be distributed to those in attendance.
